ACF Environmental is not only an innovator in geosynthetic solutions and the construction industry for over 30 years but also a company that continues to give back. From collecting donations for a number of organizations to committing charitable acts within the community ACF employees are “Storm Troopers” who embody the “Let’s Get It Done” mentality. This page will be used to highlight the calendar year of events and charitable organizations the ACF “Storm Troopers” take part in.
At ACF, we believe that the earth deserves more attention than just a day, so we decided to celebrate all week. As a part of the celebrations, posters were placed around the office with facts about pollution, and how the earth / animals on the earth are currently being affected by out actions. We also had flyers placed around the office, to help educate ourselves on how we can do better. On top of facts and educations, we celebrated earth day with donuts, new flowers outside of the building and seed packs for those interested in starting their own gardens at home.
March Madness keeps things interesting around ACF, and sports become the talk of the town. To celebrate the season and the excitement having many local VA teams in the tournament brought to our Richmond HQ team, we all enjoyed a luncheon!
The ACF team got together in our beautifully decorated and very festive warehouse to celebrate Christmas together with lunch by PQs catering. In addition to the celebration, we recognized our peers who have reached milestones in their careers at ACF, with four employees celebrating 25 years with the company!
Christmas “Dress-Up” Days
We like to get in the spirit at ACF, and enjoyed a few special “dress-up” days to start celebrating the Christmas season early. These included an ugly sweater day and a red and green day!
We had a blast dressing up and enjoying a Halloween lunch together today from Chicken Fiesta. Our team had some pretty creative costumes, with some departments choosing to dress-up as a team!
Hurricane Florence Assistance
It is devastating to look at pictures of the destruction caused by Hurricane Florence, knowing that for some people, one of their worst nightmares has become their reality. People have no water, power, access to fuel and are running out of food and supplies. Unfortunately, this includes one of our own employee’s communities – as they are not only suffering from the damage themselves, but are stepping up and trying to assist those displaced in hotels who have nothing as well as shelters that are low on supplies. At ACF – we knew we wanted to help, and the trucks and people shown in these pictures are currently dropped off supplies purchased by a donation from ACF, ACF team members and CrossGate Environmental (who joined in our drive to help).
Virginia Blood Drive
ACF Environmental team members participated in an on-site Virginia Blood Services blood drive today, to help those in need. If you’re interested in donating blood to help those in our local community – you can learn more here: http://www.vablood.org/blood-drives/

Post-Memorial/Flag Day luncheon
ACF Environmental took some time to share some smiles and good food for a Post-Memorial/Flag Day luncheon. Judging from the empty plates by the end, I’d say it was a success!

National Wear Red Day
ACF Environmental participated in National Wear Red Day in support of the American Heart Association. As the No. 1 killer of women — claiming the lives of one in three women — cardiovascular diseases force us to consider that a woman we know and love may be affected at any age. In fact, today heart disease claims more lives than all forms of cancer combined. With that being said, ACF is proud to donate $1,020 to the American Heart Association.
Christmas Cards for Soldiers
We felt it would be wonderful if we could provide Christmas cards for some of our soldiers. ACF is going strong with 240 employees and it was our goal to get at least 150 cards ready by mid July. This is such a small way each of us could show our appreciation to our U.S. Military men and women for their sacrifices, dedication and service to our country. ACF was founded by a proud US Marine Corp Captain, Rennie DiLoreto, and many of our ACF Employees have spouses/son/daughters/brother/sisters/mothers/fathers, etc. that are now deployed.

Post Memorial Day Luncheon
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States and for whom we are eternally grateful. Our ACF luncheon was a time to bring all employees together to share memories of either relatives or friends who had served in the military and, those employees who loved to cook, brought in their special dish to share with everyone! It was truly a fun gathering for all!
Shepherd’s Way Relief Center
For 2017, ACF Stormtroopers decided that all charitable fund raisers would be local communities and organizations in need. The first, being Shepherd’s Way Relief Center in Richmond, serves approximately 100 individuals per week a hot meal, has a clothes closet with gently used clothing and an emergency food pantry open to those less fortunate. A campaign was started the month of February and the ACF family joined together to successfully help stock the shelves with food and clothes! Go Stormtroopers!
December Christmas Fun
The holiday season at ACF Environmental was evident in the month of December. Office doors were decorated, celebration for all those born in the month of December, a “Country Christmas Breakfast” with all employees decked out in flannel and jeans, “hat day” to include Santa hats and reindeer antlers, and a holiday is not a holiday without a “sweets” day with holiday cakes and cookies! Everyone was decked out in holiday colors to join in on our traditional Christmas luncheon where the food was excellent and a time when numerous employees were recognized for years of service. All joined for breakfast bagels and hot chocolate followed by a “World of Chocolate Day”! Christmas fun was had by all this year!
Lots of costumes and lots of food! ACF celebrated Halloween in style this year accompanied by a yummy taco bar and opportunity for all employees to receive their annual flu shots.
Pumpkin For Kids

Rob Woodman, with family in tow, ran in the “Urban Runoff 5K” to help provide awareness of water pollution and to help raise money to support clean water education in schools. The event ended with the “Green Neighbor Family Fest”!
This year, in conjunction with the ACF Environmental Annual Memorial Day cook-out, it was decided to collect non-perishable food items for Feed More.
Feed More’s impact on hunger is: More than 1 million meals provided to children (5% rise since last year), nearly 21 million pounds of food distributed 1,628 elderly and disabled adults receiving meals.
